Reading your quote results email
Last updated: August 31, 2026
Answers: What's in the email that comes back after a submission? What do the attachments contain? How do the bind buttons work? How long does the reply take?
When the reply arrives
When an email lands in your inbox, it may be a reply to a submission you sent, or it may be part of a batch your office ran — either way, the email tells you what happened. If required information was missing, the email will say so and ask for what's needed before quotes can be returned — see When the reply asks for more information. If quotes came back, they'll appear as cards in the body of the email. Results typically arrive within ten minutes of submission, though end-to-end time depends on carrier response. If your office sent a batch, see Receiving quotes from a batch.
Quote cards
Each carrier response appears as a card showing the carrier product, a colored status, the premium, the effective date, and the carrier's stated reason where one applies. Statuses and the action each one calls for are covered in Quote statuses and what to do next.
Cards carry the action that fits the quote:
Contact Underwriter — opens an email to the carrier with the insured's information. Use this when the quote is still in the underwriter's hands and you want to reach out to them.
View in Portal — opens the quote in the carrier portal so you can see it in progress and make adjustments there.
Bind in Email — creates a pre-addressed email to the bind contact with the insured details and quote number already filled in, so you can send a request to bind.
Bind in Portal — opens a link to the carrier portal where you can complete the bind directly.
Carriers that return quote summaries or branded applications will have those documents available directly on the quote card.
Any taxes and fees shown are estimates and are subject to change.
The attachments
Coverage comparison — a side-by-side comparison of the quotes received, ready to forward to your client after you've reviewed it.
Insured information PDF — shows the origin of every value sent to carriers, including both the information from your submission and any defaults that were filled in. Use it to confirm the insured details behind your quotes.
One thread, one insured
If you want to change anything about the quote — whether that's a correction to the insured's information or an adjustment to the coverage request — reply on the same thread. Replies re-read the whole conversation, so your latest value wins and you only need to include what's changing. For a different insured, start a new email.
